Lakyn Kay: 38 Months

13 Apr

A little over 3 years ago we held you in our arms for the first time. A little over 3 years ago you taught us all about a different kind of love. Love that reached a whole new level, that was instantaneous and much stronger, a love that completely took over all our doing, all our thinking. A different kind of love that is impossible to put into words. You, Miss Lakyn, taught us all about a parent’s love.

These past 3 years have been SO much fun. Watching you grow and learn new things has been the most incredible journey, and it makes me really stinkin’ excited for the years to come! Your joyful, outgoing, and hilarious personality brighten everyone’s day and I’m positive it will take you far.

I still find myself looking at you, 3 years later, amazed that you are ours. I’m so thankful that you are.

At 3 years old:
- You weigh 32 pounds and are 38 inches tall.
-You are wearing size 3T tops and size 4T pants. They are usually big in the waist, but we need them for the length.  You’re wearing size 6 and 7 shoes.
-Your favorite song is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
-Your favorite food is macaroni and cheese
-You love playing games on the computer and are learning so much from them.
-You love reading books! We read to you before you go to bed and you take books to bed with you to read before you fall asleep. Last night Daddy and I sat and listened to you read to yourself for about 10 minutes before falling asleep.
-You still sleep with Pinky and Izzy and usually anywhere from 5-10 books stacked on the corner of your bed.
-You love to read books and can recite a lot of them from memory.
-Speaking of your memory, it’s amazing!
-You make us laugh every single day.
-You just recently started pretend playing. I love watching you/listening to you play with your toys.
-We are proud of the wonderful big sister you are becoming.
-Your surgery to remove your tonsils and adenoids was a success. We’ve hardly had to wipe your nose since, you sleep much better, and you finally have an appetite. Maybe we won’t have to buy stock in kleenex after all! :)
-You are so eager to learn and I hope you never lose that.
-You are very dramatic. It’s very humorous at times.
-You love playing with sidewalk chalk and just being outside in general. You keep asking for a bicycle.
-’Miss Attitude’ is quite fitting!
-You occasionally talk in a british accent. We’re betting you picked it up from Peppa Pig, a british cartoon on Nick Jr. I personally love hearing it! :)
-You are recognizing some sight words, can read a few word families, can do some basic addition and subtraction problems, as well as some very basic fraction recognition. You’ve got your opposites down pat, can point out a word that we say on the page we are reading, you know that a word is made up of letters, and can point to each word as we read. You still like puzzles but we really need to get you some more difficult ones. I’m serious when I say that you’ll be smarter than me in about 5 years. And I can’t take credit for any of it. I’m glad there are great educational games out there!
-You are really into helping and I’m starting to see you become more interested in things I’m doing in the kitchen.
-Bathtime is still one of your favorites.
-You have one volume: LOUD!
-We’re entering the “No!” stage, the “testing the limits” stage, and the “Why?” stage all at once. You ask “why” no less than  50,000 times a day, I’m sure of it! ;)
-You love doing arts and crafts
-You’re hilarious and so very animated. You usually do not shy away from attention.

In Lakyn’s Words:
-Favorite Food: Mac and cheese
-Color: Black (This changes every time I ask her). When asked 3 minutes later she said blue. Yesterday it was pink.
-TV show: Pocoyo (I would say it is Team Umizoomi)
-Song: Twinkle Twinkle
-Thing to do: Play games on the computer OUTSIDE: bounce ball and play with chalk
-Best Friend: Mommy  <—- And my heart melts!

We wouldn’t change a single thing about you! We love you so very much!
